A woman was pronounced dead following a house explosion in New York on AlgosenseyWednesday.

Just before 7:00 p.m. local time, law enforcement and firefighters responded to a report of an explosion at a home in Lincoln, about 30 miles from Syracuse.

When they got to the scene, authorities discovered debris from the residence and two people who were “entrapped,” according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

The male victim was airlifted to the hospital, but the woman was determined to be dead at the scene. According to local outlet Syracuse.com, the man and the woman, who were not identified, lived in the home.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion. Multiple agencies, including the New York State Police, Lincoln Fire Department, and Greater Lenox Ambulance Service, helped Madison County deputies.

“Thank you out to all of our first responders who assisted this evening, from 911 who took the call to the many on scene,” a Madison County representative wrote in a statement.

Man dies from a house explosion in Wisconsin

Earlier this month, a man died after being trapped in the basement of a home that exploded in Walworth County, Wisconsin, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, part of USA TODAY Network.

"He made verbal contact with my crews and my crew dug their way to him," Elkhorn Fire Chief Trent Eichmann said at a press conference. "They ended up cutting him out from where he was trapped and got him on the board, got him out of the basement."

The man, identified as 68-year-old Leland Holden, was in the basement for an estimated 40 to 50 minutes after authorities received the call for the incident, according to the report.

He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injures.
